About Us

Interior view of the Elks Lodge bar area.

Pull up to 220 N 5th Ave West and the building won't knock your socks off from the curb. Step inside, though, and the mounted elk heads, worn wood, and decades of handshakes tell a different story. This is the kind of place where a Christmas party becomes the highlight of December, where the food draws compliments long after the night is over, and where the same faces keep showing back up year after year.

The Elks Lodge in Virginia, MN is a fraternal organization with deep roots in the Iron Range community. Members gather here for dinners, private events, holiday parties, and the quiet camaraderie that comes from belonging to something bigger than yourself. The hall carries a rustic, lived-in character that no amount of renovation could manufacture.

With a 4.6-star rating from over 50 reviewers, the Lodge has earned genuine goodwill from the people who matter most: the locals who actually use it. The Elks have operated lodges across America since 1868, and this chapter carries that legacy forward on Minnesota's Iron Range.

What We Offer

The Lodge hosts private events and banquets for members and approved groups, making it a go-to venue for holiday parties, retirement celebrations, and family gatherings in Virginia. The kitchen turns out solid, crowd-pleasing food that guests consistently call out in reviews, so you won't be stuck apologizing for the catering.

Beyond event rentals, the Lodge offers full fraternal membership through the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Members gain access to the hall, social events, community service programs, and a national network of over 800,000 Elks across the country. Local charitable initiatives, scholarship programs, and veteran support are core parts of what this chapter does year-round.

For event inquiries or membership information, visit elks.org or stop by the lodge on 5th Ave West to speak with someone in person.

"The Elks club that sits at North 5th Ave West in Virginia, doesn’t seem like much when you pull up in front of the building, but makes up for character and somewhat of a rustic charm with Elk Heads hanging up inside. A little bit about the Elks club from the Laurentian Chamber website is they want “to inculcate of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America.” Tonight we were here for my son, Tristan, who represents his school at the new Rock Ridge High School Wrestling Team and they through an amazing Spaghetti and Meatball dinner. Inside there was tons of room for both parents and students so it was nice to spend time with our family and talk with others about how well the students are doing this year in wrestling. If you need a place to host a party or get together I highly recommended the Virginia Elks Club. This place even comes with a nice full bar, check it out! Sending many thanks to the people who let us be there for the Spaghetti Dinner and the Rock Ridge Wrestling Team who put in phenomenal service. Can’t wait to come back! Maybe will even get a membership sometime too! #SchroyerFamily #schroyerfamilydaily #arrenschroyer #rockridgeschool #wolverines #wrestling #rockridgestudents #virginiaelksclub #virginiamn #club"

"Take pictures before and after if you use this place for an event/party. They scammed my parents out of their deposit by telling lies. They said we were there until 12:30AM (presumably drinking cause it was the bartender who said that she was there until 12:30AM), we were NOT and left before or by 9PM. Plus on top of that, barely any of the people we invited drink because they are either recovering alcoholics or were under age. Then they said we trashed the place, which we did NOT everyone helped clean up, and they even said they have a janitor that comes and cleans up after parties/events, so the cleaning was NOT necessary, BUT we still cleaned. My parents double checked EVERYTHING, were the last people out and they locked the doors behind us at around 9:00-9:15PM. Now they call back and say that the bartender lied and had clocked out by 9:30PM soo that’s just proof of their lies and deception. BEWARE of using the Elk’s as a place for events/parties!!!"

"So crowded. I attended a Christmas bingo event and it was fun, but we were so packed into the room I felt claustrophobic and am pretty sure it was a fire code violation. Need to cap ticket sales/entry to suit the space. I'm sure they do great things hut will not attend again."

"It's a great place to go! They have bingo every Tuesday night, and I am their caller. They serve food and drink! So if you're in the area stop by and take a look for yourself!"

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
